Arrest Warrants Resolved in Delaware County

A client — we will call him Malik Rayburn — recently contacted our office after learning that he had multiple arrest warrants issued against him in Delaware County.

Anyone who has ever dealt with arrest warrants knows that you must take action very quickly. Otherwise, you run the risk of being arrested by police at home, at work, or during a routine traffic stop. Mr. Rayburn made the right choice by calling up the criminal defense team at Kenny, Burns & McGill.

We immediately got to work, calling up the three different Magisterial District Courts in Delaware County which issued the arrest warrants. The normal protocol for something like this would be for the client to go see each individual Magisterial District Judge and argue for the lowest possible bail each time, running the risk of being locked up at any of the three courts.

Instead, our office was able to arrange for our client to surrender a single time at a single courthouse, and our client was preliminarily arraigned on all three cases at the same time.

Mr. Rayburn’s charges, when combined across the three cases, included 15 individual counts, with half of them being graded as felonies. The charges included forgery, burglary, and receiving stolen property, among others.

Attorney Thomas Kenny appeared in-person before the Magisterial District Judge and successfully argued for our client to be released on unsecured bail in the amount of $75,000. As a result, our client did not have to spend any time in jail and he was able to immediately return to his family and his job without the looming threat of multiple arrest warrants.

Our number one goal is to keep clients like Mr. Rayburn out of jail, especially during the coronavirus pandemic. That goal can be tricky to achieve, especially when multiple arrest warrants have been issued for multiple felonies. We are always happy to take on a challenge for a client!
